As of this writing, there have been 2678 votes in the poll, with a pretty significant skew in favor of png, so unless the poll results reverse completely a week from now, png will be the new standard. That said, I took some of the advice in the poll comments and started reducing the colors in the black and white files down to 32 while leaving the colored pages as jpg, so just to compare, the original jpg file size of chapter 1-2 was 18.1 megs. The png version turned into 17 megs, so it’s actually smaller now than it was in jpg format. I was a little worried about reducing the colors too much, but if you look at them side by side, I sure as hell can’t see a difference.
I’ll be re-saving some of the recent releases like maranosuke to see if I can shrink it down to something that makes a little more sense.
