Artwork I commissioned at Otakon last year. I commissioned the artist for an imp Midna one as well, but the artist disappeared on me before I ever got my hands on it. I’m hoping to track her down at Otakon this year.

Yes. I really like Zone’s artwork. I don’t know if he does commissions, though. He’s probably too busy with his flash stuff.
I’ve considered asking Utilizator, but I’m still torn on deciding exactly what I’d want him to draw.
There’s also the nagging sensation I get when trying to commission artists. I’ve been burned too many times to even count. If you go to a convention and an artist says “I’ll finish it at home and send it to you by mail”, there’s a good chance you’ll never hear from them again.

I’ve been wondering for a while and this seems like a decent place to ask. Why don’t you use Mediafire? It doesn’t have any waiting time or download limit, which is much less annoying when you’re trying to download more than 1 thing. It seems far easier to keep track of old files than the others too, though I’ve not actually used rapidshare or depositfiles before
I also don’t see any easy way to report files, though I assume there probably is some way… Might be worth a try though

Mediafire has been suggested many times. Mostly after Sayo stopped using it because files get deleted VERY quickly there. And just for the record, there is a report link on every download page.

Just a thought, but several other sites i use have started to use JDownloader, since it hides the download link.
I’ve used it for a while now and think it’s a nifty application, if a bit resource hungry. But since it’s not running except to dl something it’s not so bad. Also it’s compatible with almost every file uploader around, and can do the captcha automatically.

Sahadou, do you mind me asking why do you continuously ask people to be polite and not to burden DDL server too much ? Users (mostly who don’t understand anything about how the system works) will always leech it. Don’t break your nerves and abandon the idea (and the DDL server) altogether. I’d do it without a second thought, just shut it down forever. I really respect you for your patience.

sad i suppose, though i never really use the dd links. torrents are much faster for the older stuff, and i have never had a problem using one of the links you provide for your new translations. if its screwing you over so much i would do what was suggested above and just totally get rid of the ddl links,

You sure it isn’t a ruse by Sir Igarglecumeverymorning to make your server exceed its bandwidth limits?
By the way, I think you’ve got the work/reward ratio (in the economical sense) of your download options in the wrong order; the one you want least used is the one requiring the less work. For bandwidth hogs RS/MU/DF aren’t an option if they don’t have an account, and as it is now it’s easier for them to rape your DDL server than to figure out how to use a torrent client.
A stopgap measure could be to make DDL’ers put in a little work of their own, like using a plain text link without the leading http:// , but IMO your best shot at rectifying this situation is to use limited duration links like your first DDL server did.
Changing subject, can I make a little request of my own? Could you increase the length of your RSS feed (Just the one for comments) to 50 items or so? Apparently Google indexes it just once in 24 hours, so I might miss some of your replies. TIA…

You should just remove the DDL period. host downloads are pretty decent, and there are quite a few that are ok with having adult content uploaded with their service.

Batches in chunks like AnonymousScanner suggested was a good solution if you can keep it updated. I would like to see mediafire mirrors return, as 9/10 files I attempt to download time out because I forget I was downloading them between the time I start the download and the when the stupid wait timer finishes.

Which is the problem with DDL? filetransfer does not need much system resources, so the server is not under pressure…
Maybe is related to how much bandwidth it uses? In this case i think is possible to set some limiters. For example 100KB\s total, so if one is downloading it gets 100K, if another one connect 50K, if many people is downloading they get 15K each and they will have to wait longer.
then you may write a script that allows the use of the DDL only from this site and from nowhere else.

If that was the case, it would not matter if the torrent was 14 gigs, 5 gigs, or 1 gig. The unpopular torrents would always be hard to find.
However, there are many people who don’t bother picking and choosing what files to upload, and they upload the whole torrent at a time, and don’t care how big the torrent is.
If you were to DL the batch torrent, and then come here saying “Help! File XXX is stuck at 79%!” people would be more likely to help you. As it is, you are whining about something you haven’t even tried to do yet.

frist thanks for the mangas, that you translate *slime* i think you must implement some restictions like only one Download per Hour per User and Bandwith restrictions (20 – 40 KB/s are enough ….. if they want, they must wait … longer as by the mirrors) … also give download accelerators not the chance to download the file (like rapidshare.com )

I checked the logs for today and yesterday, and noticed something weird.
First, there have been 7515 download attempts from 731 unique IPs in just this short period. This is especially weird considering that there are only two random things accessible at the moment and that there is a huge, very visible announcement on the front page of this site.
At the low end, 170 people made one download attempt, 121 made two, 151 three, and so on in a basically decreasing manner. At the high end, though, one person made 1102 download attempts, another 682, and 16 other people made from 100 to 200 attempts.
I guess I can see two ways this could be happening: People are EVEN MORE retarded that we all thought, or (at the high end of the download attempt counts) someone has been attacking the server and hasn’t turned off their bot.
Could also be both.
On the bright side, though, I think I might be able to get the DDL server back up eventually, even though it seems like most people don’t use it all too often.

But then, can you do something to prevent people to mass download file like this? Like setup so one IP can only down 10~20 files per hours, more than that they can use torrent. (I don’t know about other but I only need 3 for 1 of my fapping session, lol)

IP (v4) address does not equate to user. You didn’t take into account NAT; there are some large ISPs that act like a ginormous LAN, sharing the same public IP among thousands of users. All users behind China’s Great Firewall exit on the public Internet through a very limited pool of IPs, and then there’s the whole business of open proxies…
To count distinct users, you basically have to resort to cookies.

As for those complaining about the size of the torrent each release and whatnot, you realise that if you leave the old torrent in the same place the new one will just check the old files and skip them if they already exist so you dont need to download the whole torrent again, just what has been added.

The 2nd one I reported was just a double on my hd, because probably on an old torrent that file was on “Cemex”, but now it’s only on “KuroN3ko & Everyman”. So yes, it’s fixed. Well, people like who downloaded the old torrent have a double, but who cares? There’s even another double due to a renaming from one old torrent to the new one of another file(I don’t remember which one), but again, it’s not a problem of the current torrent.
Till now, the only real double of the current torrent I’ve found is the file “[SaHa] Nitta Jun – Prefectural Centre For Sexual Guidance (English).rar” in directories “AniFreak” and “Anonymous”. This one is confirmed to be there on the current torrent.

If you ever plan on re-implementing the DDL links again, have you considered using captcha codes? From what I could get from the earlier comments, it seems like the guys who “ignored your warnings not to rape the DDL server” were actually hackers who’ve been doing a DDoS attack, rather than simple “idiots” who didn’t look elsewhere.
I mean, how much did the web traffic of this site compare to the amount of download requests? If the amount of download requests are several hundreds of thousands of times more than the amount of traffic you get from this site, then it’s obvious that you need to implement more countermeasures against bots and hackers rather than yell at people to pay attention to other links.
Have you also considered implementing a gallery section? You know, so people can instantly view the translated manga on-site rather than downloading them? That might disperse download traffic and allow people to have access to your stuff if the DL links go down or they can’t torrent them.

The timing is suspect, as the DDL servers (all three of them) operated by translators were raped and forced to go down in the last few weeks.
I too have thought of a DDoS, but probably the cause is just plain leechers new to h-mangas trying to download all they can while it lasts; they go for the DDL because it’s free and altogether less annoying to use than the alternatives.
IMO the only workable long-term solution is to use a download policy even more draconian than your average filehost, like one (very low speed) download per IP per hour, with dynamic links to prevent leechers from using a download manager.
That is, only if SaHa ever wants to resume offering direct downloads; I know I wouldn’t, seeing the number of rude/lazy commentards lately.

I personally prefer torrents over dll. Dll often has wait time (cause I sure ain’t payin) and is too centralized. If things like the server go down, like such an occasion, it is almost impossible to get the information.Were as with torrents once enough people have become seeds the torrent’s creator can stop seeding and conserve bandwidth. It usual all work if there are a few good people as seeders who don’t have a default ip address to get around some of the isp’s.

I think the month torrent idea is a very good one, but I would personally prefer category torrents which are updated monthly or every few months.

oh, and well, about the mirroring, ever considered posting the DL-Links as DLCs(useable with JDownloader)?
As far as it goes for me, DLCs, with uploaded Mirrors on different sites.
Having the Links only in the DLC is quite more secure, and prevents some scanners and DDL-Leeching(even annoying Popups, due to JDownloader only popping up then when image Verification is required.)

other idea (not sure if some one might find it helpful) is add the date of release to the name in the begining of the rar, zip, etc so you can pick the month, day, etc you need.

@JukanX: reading if(x) post I think this is due to someone trying to attack the server. Because it is clearly done by a bot/script, if anyone who already can use a bot/script like that for downloading, I think they will choose torrent instead of that.

Out of curiosity, is mediafire no longer a short term hosting option? The only time I went to DDL before was when all three download timers were going. Now that SAHA’s become especially prolific in his releases, I really miss MF’s timerless downloads.

What’s up with Megaupload?
Free downloads are listed as 1 at a time, with a 45 second wait, but lately I haven’t had to wait, and have been able to download at least 3 files at the same time (started separately).
I hope this is a permanent bug in their system.

Khm, there is a couple things I have to say.
First, thanks Saha for all your work. I’m really grateful.
And second. It seems, batch torrent contains several doubles, like
“Nagare Ippon – Parabellum” Vol.1 in Donor Project (full size – 91 mb) and in Mor (35 mb);
“Gorgeous Takarada – Cannon Sensei Tobashisugi” in Donor Project (full size – 98 mb) and in Intrepid Giraffe Project (70 mb).
And also there is strange thing with files in Sonic. This folder contains “Gold Rush – Thank you! Lunamaria Route” which is completely identical to “Gold Rush – Thank you! Lunamaria Root”. Imho instead of “Lunamaria route” there have to be “Gold Rush – Thank you! Meyrin Route”.
Maybe there is another thing that I missed. And so it would be very nice, if other people with completely downloaded batch check this up.

About your bandwidth problem. Perhaps, you could make this site one where you had to simply register with a real email account that needs to be verified isn’t on the Slopsbox’s list of domains To get the direct downloads. A simple and effective way of dealing with leechers who are not willing to give out their personal information. Oh and if you don’t know what slopsbox is, it’s a temporary email hosting website done by the folks from The Pirate Bay simply for this reason of verifying email addresses and then after the one use it deletes the address. Ingenious, but not an invincible defense against verification. And for us who are not only leechers you can create a news letter or something, of the sort. Like updates. Just an idea.

Not so much interest as it is a realization that I’ve already translated stuff like Gura Nyuuto and Amanoja, so the line is already pretty damn blurred and it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to do yaoi.

I’m unfamiliar with the one you mentioned. In fact, I’m familiar with any and all yaoi doujins, so don’t expect me to recognize them by title. If you want me to consider it, read the commission FAQ and then you can e-mail me with the raw.

Would it be possible to get a smoother system?
I always found the blog pages with links to give all I needed. Chapter number (in other words if it is done or partially done), newest at top, links to where to get it. It is quite perfect.
The torrent on the other hand is giving me a hard time. Commisionaires (or whatever) as base folders make it illogical to find anything. Commision number would have helped a lot (if you also in the commision list would state “full manga done” or “partially done”), or some kind of date structure so I knew what was recent and what was old.
Currently using utorrent and it doesn’t give me any other info than filename and size. I already have a vast amount of comics and I’m not interested in playing “find the duplicates” game, so it would be nice if you could do a new torrent (doesn’t even have to go that far back, I’m sure I had at least most good ones to February/March 2009) with a slightly friendlier folder structure.

Because I like hearing more questions exactly like that one. Or it could be because there’s only 24 hours in a day and I have better things to do than update a 15 gig batch torrent every 2 days because somebody’s too lazy to either wait 40 seconds for a free file to download or figure out that I’ve already linked to a firefox plugin that bypasses the timer somewhere in this thread.
I update the batch torrent every 2 months, which is usually when the number of releases becomes too excessive for me to continuously update them on the filehosts. The new batch torrent release is imminent, but It’ll likely only be ready on Wednesday.

Hello all, new guy here, just started using the torrent option, and I have a question: I noticed that some releases in the torrent are different from the releases from the blog posts (e.g. Kodomo no Jikan vol 6).
Is this just because the torrent link lags a couple of months behind, so that the discrepancy would be eliminated on the next torrent release, or some other reason?
Also, being a newb when it comes to the torrent thing, what happens when the torrent is updated? Is it at the same link and it automatically updates the files that were changed, or does it get a totally different links and it needs to be re-dowloaded?
(Or should I be asking these questions in the forum?)

The differences of blog and torrent:
I’m not what kind of differences you mean but it should be either the torrent lagging behind or that said fixed some typos in the torrent.
The update:
You need to redownload the .torrent file but if you save it to the same folder as the old one you will only have to redownload the files that changed and some MB of the files that are next to new/updated files (that’s because of the way torrent works).

Regarding the torrent update, it also depends on your client software: programs you run on a computer are smart enough to figure out whether to just download added/changed files, whereas embedded clients (like the one on my home NAS,
) are usually dumber and will re-download every file regardless.

Guys, would it be too hard if you added the following open trackers to your torrents? DA and Hong weren’t working for me right now and although we do have DHT it’s better to have a tracker for the torrent health.

Saha they are open trackers. Once you send them the hash they’ll register the torrent, even if you are a lone leecher and don’t have the files. I’ve added those trackers and there are other people already using openbt.
Weirdly I don’t see nyaa tracker on that torrent, which is good since nyaa blocks DHT and PEX – I got 14 peers, 7 of them seeders, through PEX and DHT =~~
By the way, you could offer torrents for the individual releases on those public trackers since they require no registrations. This could counter any direct download link removal. I know there are some ppl out there with mind boggling connections that seed absolutely everything they download so it could even be a nice long term solution.. Doesn’t hurt to say the ideas out loud!
And to finish my lengthy post, thanks for your work man, I dunno where I’d get those loli mangas… =D

Do like I do:
Hit the button that removes the check mark from ALL selections, then go through and re-checkmark only those that you want to download.
It is not easy, or fast, when you want to be picky.
YOU will also have to keep a list of files that are NOT to be selected.
uTorrent allows you to start with a few files, and add more later in the Details list when the torrent is hi-lited.

I was just thinking that you may not actually be dealing with a person reporting all these but rather a BOT, you know like the ones Google uses to catalog web sites. This is why
The other day I was online and I downloaded a couple of files… but i use all the different sites to speed it up… anyway, then I went to the next one but it was gone from all three sites… and all the ones I had just uploaded were gone from all three as well, all in a few seconds. There was nothing left in any of them.
I say all this because if it is just a bot doing all this then there are ways to stop it.

I know that it has been mentioned a few times before, but the whole loli manga mirror issue seems to be an ongoing problem for you, Sayo.
That said, I really recommend that you look into JDownloader. I know it has been around for a good while now, but I only recently started using it myself, and it’s truly a great program. The feature you’re looking for is the ability to create DLC, which is a small file (that you can host here) containing encrypted links to a bunch of sharing sites. Whoever hates your work would have to be really determined to hack them.
Content might still get deleted from inactivity if you don’t have any account, but a simple reporting troll won’t be able to disable your links.

Hi folks, i face some problem here with seeding, hope sum1 can help. The new tracker doesnt seems to recognise my old zip files, i have try force re-check but to no avail. If its possible i really doesnt want to redownload everything… Any solution?

You have to remove the files from all of those individual folders that they were in.
There is only the SaHa folder now.
Once the files are all moved, then the re-check should work.
Do a “move” NOT a “copy” it is faster and easier.
