Commission FAQ

How long does it take to complete a commission?
A doujin can be completed in as little as 2 days depending on the size. I typically quote 2 weeks as the completion time for an hmanga, but I usually get it done a little faster than that. Note that I’m sometimes backed up on commissions, so it may take me some time to get started on yours. It’s a good idea to contact me for a quote so that I can at least save you a spot in the list.

How much does a commission cost?
Approximately $1.70 per page. Depending mostly on the amount of text present in the doujin as well as the amount of editing required(ie: text sitting on backgrounds).

Are watermarks included in commissioned releases?
Watermarks are not included in commissioned releases. There will only be a small list of credits somewhere in the doujin.

How do I go about getting a commission made?
Send me an e-mail detailing what you want commissioned. Include a rapidshare/megaupload/whatever link so that I can download it and take a look. I can’t quote a price unless I see the doujin in full. You can contact me at sahadou@gmail.com.

What kinds of projects can I commission?
Doujins and Hmangas or even Non-H mangas are accepted. Sometimes other types of projects are acceptable, but the pricing will typically differ depending on what it is. If you want only specific pages of a larger book to be translated, you may specify which pages. However, there must be at least some level of continuity in the commission(ie: Don’t ask for page 2, 6, 9 and 15 in a 16 page chapter).
I don’t do Guro. For those who don’t share my definition of guro, here’s mine. If a girl gets ripped open, amputated, or loses any other part of her anatomy in the process of having sex, that’s guro to me.
Almost any other type of doujin is acceptable. Violence or gore in the doujin is fine just so long as it is story-oriented and doesn’t relate directly to the sex. If you are worried that a doujin you want to commission is borderline, you can send it along and I’ll have a look so I can tell you whether or not I’ll do it. Don’t worry about offending me with strange fetishes. No matter how screwed up it is, I’ve probably seen it. Among the acceptable material is Straight Sex, Gangbang, Rape, Yuri, Yaoi, Futanari, Furry, Cross-Dressing, Golden Shower, Tentacles, Beast(dogs, horses, frogs, whatever else), Loli, Shota, Preg, Birthing/Egg-laying, X-ray and probably various other fetishes I can’t think to name.

How does payment occur?
You commission the doujin with me, I spend a few days working on it. Once it is complete, I notify you and payment is to arrive before I send you the completed doujin. If you notice any spelling errors or phrases you’d rather see worded differently, you may bring them up with me and I will correct them as soon as is humanly possible. Please notify me of any modifications within a month of the completion of your commission.
Note: If you’re a first-time commissioner, you will be required to give an advance payment of 50% regardless of size. No exceptions. Don’t even bother contacting me if this is a problem for you. If you try to commission something of a fairly substantial size(100+ pages), there’s a good chance I’ll need to ask for 50% up front regardless of whether or not you’re a first time commissioner.

Is there any way to get my hands on a commission listed as exclusive and numbered below release #300?
Maybe and when I say maybe, I mean MAYBE. No guarantees and it depends on the original commissioner. Send me a pm to discuss the doujin in question and I’ll see what I can do.

  1. MitchellTF Says:

I was just wondering. Is there a possibility you could do a Graphic Novel adventure game translation?

There’s some awesome ones out there, and a lot of them involving some of my Transformation-based fetishes, along with the one on the thread in my website, Evil Conversion.

Yami No Koe is one of them, along with Magical Girl Nayuta and Sanranki. Would you be capable and willing to translate these?

  2. sahadou Says:

You can send the raws along to my e-mail address and I can take a look and quote you a price for them. There’s basically just 2 kinds of content I won’t do and those are Guro and Scat. The rest is fair game.

  3. Cube Says:

Hmmm, got a quick question- You mention that it’s roughly $1.5/page. Does this apply for full hentai mangas? Meaning, a complete manga would be roughly $200? Or is there some sort of ’special discount’ for bulk? :P

I’m interested in requesting most of Suehirogari’s mangas (Cage 1&2, K.A.A.R. 1&2, etc.), but I’m kinda scared of how much it would be.

  4. sahadou Says:

That does apply to full hentai mangas. And no, there are no special discounts for bulk. 1.50 is basically the price for your average manga(pretty sure suehirogari’s stuff applies to this category). You can expect a higher price for an artist like Gorgeous Takarada or Type 90, who have an average of 30-40 bubbles per page.

  5. EdZ Says:

Would the price be reduced for just a straight translation (i.e. just a text fine, not editing of the scans)?

  6. EdZ Says:

Whoops, I meant ‘file’, not ‘fine’.

  7. sahadou Says:

You can send an e-mail with the raw and I’ll consider it.

  8. athel228 Says:

While reading the various fetishes listed in the “kinds of products” part I noticed you listed yuri but not yaoi. Do you not translate yaoi, or did you just not list it? I’m just curious is all.

  9. sahadou Says:

I’ll consider it. You can send along the raws and I’ll take a look. I’ve never actually done yaoi before, though.

  10. athel228 Says:

I was just curious. I don’t have anthing needing translating at the moment, but you’ll be the first person I’d go to for a translation.

  11. pepe Says:

hey i found this place were you could have a book made hard cover or paper back. I went there when my boss was planning on making instruction manuels for the staff. the idea poped up in my head pretty quick, would they make me a book of Saha Commissions. I was afraid to ask the the guy behind the counter. but i noticed he was reading hustler so i guess he would do it. so what do you say mind if i make a book

  12. sahadou Says:

I’m not sure what you’re asking? You want to get a printing company to create printed copies of the translations? You can do that if you want. Just don’t go around selling copies.

  13. pepe Says:

don’t worry 5 gigs worth of Commissions is to expensive to want to sell… i wonder how thick it will be

  14. rb9 Says:

This is a shot in the dark- could you pull off any form of vocal translation? Say, movies, for example. Not subbing, just returning a raw.

  15. sahadou Says:

It’s possible, but I’ve never actually done a vocal translation before. I’m also not totally certain yet how long it takes to do, so I’m not sure how I would price it. If you want to run something by me, you can send me an e-mail, I can take a look and let you know whether or not I can do it.

  16. Fushi Says:

Humm I was wondering how you would charge for doing parts of a script for a game.

  17. sahadou Says:

I’ve done game translations before, actually(Commission #231). The pricing is going to be different, obviously. Also, you’d need to supply either text or screenshots of the text.

  18. Fushi Says:

I can supply the text, but how much do you charge?

  19. sahadou Says:

It depends on the amount of text. I’ll need to take a look at it before I can price it. You can send me an e-mail with a rapidshare link or whatever.

  20. Fushi Says:

    Emailed~

  21. Fushi Says:

I just found out that all the characters individual story lines also need to be tled, I’ll work on getting those scripts as well

  22. MonkeyR Says:

Can you also translate anime? I can handle the subtitling/encoding, but I need the translations first.

  23. sahadou Says:

I might be able to, but I’ve never actually tried translating an anime. You’ll need to send me the raw or provide a torrent or something so I can have a look.

  24. onslaught1337 Says:

I am having a doujinshi translated at some others site but he said that he cant read the text on the last two pages so i wondered if you could do them if you can read it. (its not done yet but he didnt charge those pages either and i am just asking for now)

  25. sahadou Says:

Contact me by e-mail for this.

  26. akito10 Says:

Would little short mecha serials be an ok commission to request?

I’m looking to get two small chapters of the serial ‘Mobile Suit Gundam 00V’ translated, each clocking in at about maybe 5 or so pages. Lots of technical speak I’d assume though, so I don’t know how that’d work out for you…

  27. sahadou Says:

You can send them along by e-mail and I’ll take a look.

  28. akito10 Says:

    E-mailed. Thanks for the consideration.

  29. Zie Says:

If a project is under “Re-commissioned” type status, what does that mean? Sorry if this is the in FAQ somewhere, but I didn’t notice it when I read through…

  30. sahadou Says:

Something listed as “can be recommissioned” is something that the original commissioner has chosen not to share, but if anyone else wants to re-commission it for themselves, they can.

The “exclusives” are ones that fall under my old commission rules, where I gave a guarantee that I would not release the translation under any circumstances without getting their approval. And if approval was never granted, they would never be shared. I only got rid of exclusives when I hit the 300 mark.

  31. Chibicon Says:

I have two questions about commissions.

How do you handle doujins(marked exclusive or can be recommissioned) that you have scanlated for someone that are leaked on the internet for anyone to grab? Do you go on and add the download link or let people find it for themselves?

Second, what about doujins(marked exclusive or can be recommissioned) that have been scanlated by someone other than yourself that have either been given out for free or also with charge? I found one of the doujins on your commission list marked as ‘can be recommissioned’ that is fully translated I believe(228 pages so I’m guessing it is the complete hmanga) by someone else. Although I can never know if it is a rewrite but who would rewrite 228 pages…

  32. sahadou Says:

If something’s been leaked on the net, let me know and I’ll throw it up as a ddl. Some commissioners don’t warn me when something gets shared, so I don’t always realize if something’s been thrown out or not.

I think I know which 228 page commission you’re talking about. I haven’t taken a look at it, so I don’t know if it’s a rewrite or not. All I know is that it’s not mine. Basically, if something has been translated or rewritten by someone else, it doesn’t matter to me.

  33. Kaji Says:

I was curious as to whether or not you would translate a Doujin that contains Male x Shemale. I’m not really sure if you would consider it Futanari or Yaoi.

  34. sahadou Says:

That’s not a problem. I’ve done stuff by Gura Nyuuto with that sort of content.

  35. Aurelli Says:

Are you going to do Negimaru 5 to finish the story or does it have to be commissioned?

  36. sahadou Says:

I was hoping to find the time to do it eventually, but I’m obviously prioritizing the commissions. I’m a little overloaded these days.

  37. Chibicon Says:

Anal Water seems to be on the net. It is marked as exclusive on your commission list though.

  38. sahadou Says:

Alright. Wasn’t sure if that one was released or not. I’ll add a ddl later this week.

  39. Chibicon Says:

Horihone Saizou – Pet Dog Protection Week (The link is dead on this one.)

These two have been shared or leaked unknowingly and are marked as exclusive.

    Ujie Moku – Cotton 100%
    Studio Tar – Teasing Takato

  40. sahadou Says:

Oh? Teasing Takato was shared? I had no idea. Now I wonder if he shared the other pokemon doujins…

  41. Rhapfan Says:

$1.50 a page seems pretty cheap, given the amount of time you must spend on these works. How did you decide how much to charge?

  42. sahadou Says:

Hmm… Not really sure how to answer that. I don’t have some special formula to work out what to charge, but yes, it’s very cheap.

  43. Rhapfan Says:

I just meant that I would imagine that 1.50 a page wouldn’t even cover your costs, let alone let you make any moneys. Is it commercial for you or do you see it as a hobby?

  44. sahadou Says:

Well, there aren’t really any costs associated with this. I started doing this as a hobby when I was still in university. Now it’s more of a 24/7 thing. I do some occasional licensed work when it’s available, though.

  45. Celery Says:

How many projects can be commissioned at any given time? I wouldn’t ask you for twelve at once or anything so crazy, but there are a few titles in a series from the artist Gold Rush I’m interested in seeing in English.

  46. sahadou Says:

You can send along a batch of stuff you want done. What I typically do is translate 1 or 2 of them at a time depending on their size. So you could send me 12 if you want, but I’d need to do it in batches of 1 or 2 per week or something like that.

  47. Celery Says:

Oh, no, I wasn’t serious about the twelve number. It was just illustrating a point. I can only think of five things off the top of my head I want to see in English so much I would pay for it.

On a semi-related note, would it be at all possible to re-commission “Gold Rush – Talia-san to Maryu-san de atte ne!” (number 9 on your list) if I was really interested? I’m a sucker for Gold Rush and I’d rather not join a site for a single release.

If I can, I’ll probably e-mail you further. If not, I may throw something else at you.

  48. sahadou Says:

You can e-mail the raws and I’ll take a look at all of them and give you a quote for each.

  49. Celery Says:

Well, I raided rapidshare and stuffed some links in e-mail.

You can get back to me whenever.

  50. LM Says:

“I’ll allow them to re-commission it for themselves.”

Just for clarification: Has a re-commissioner the right to make a commission public or has *everybody* after the original commissioner to pay for it?

  51. sahadou Says:

A Re-commissioner has the right to make it public.

  52. dharmox Says:

any i can buy your exclusive commissioning ? please contact my email.

  53. Tony Says:

some of your commission cannot be download … the link of direct download is only contain commission List. THX

  54. Jade Says:

    Status: (Can Be Re-commissioned)

Does it mean that someone have translate it bfore you therefore you halt your translation progress???
or it just simply means the link is broke down??

if we want it to be re-commissioned, how much we have to pay??? (is it full price)

  55. sahadou Says:

It means that the guy who commissioned it originally doesn’t want to share it himself for various personal reasons. I actually have some commissioners who don’t want their commissions shared ever, under any circumstances. Those people are rare, but I do run into them.
And yes, a re-commission is the same as a commission.

  56. Alwin Says:

Cannot find this anywhere, but can I just donate to you? Say, 5 to 10 dollars (since I’m not very rich to say the least) just to express my gratitude for your translations?

  57. Anon Says:

Warrior, go work for someone that doesn’t pay you and see how you like it…

  58. Chibicon Says:

Are you ever going to fix the download links for the mangas marked as exclusive that have already been shared for quite some time?

  59. sahadou Says:

    such as?

  60. Chibicon Says:

    Ujie Moku – Cotton 100%
    Studio Tar – Teasing Takato

Those are the only ones I know without looking at the other 600+ releases. D:

  61. JukanX Says:

#208 is also being shared on 4chan…
    http://rs.4chan.org/?s=nanako+days

  62. Fayt Says:

Do you do straight text translation? if so how much does it cost?

  63. sahadou Says:

I can if you want. You can send the raw for a quote.

  64. Negi the onion man Says:

okay, now i feel kinda stupid for asking, cause i dont fully understand your rules on the whole commision thing….

if it exclusive from before three hundred then you wont share it, right?

if im right on that and all, what if i have untranslated raws for an exclusive and want to commision it, even if its been previously exclusive commision.

i dont have the raws now, but i might decide to get them, which is why im asking.

and sorry if its been asked or what ever before…

    thanks

  65. sahadou Says:

    @Negi
If it’s before 300, there may be some of them that can be recommissioned. You can contact me by e-mail to discuss the ones you want. Some of them may require me to check with the original commissioners.

  66. Chibicon Says:

I recently watched Yunyun Paradise. I discovered that I actually understood at least 90% of what was said so I decided to make a script since there are no English subtitles around. Although there are a few lines that I couldn’t understand what was said.

Can you give an estimate as to how much around 25~ lines to be translated/checked would cost?

  67. Sahadou Says:

Is this an hanime or something? I’m not sure I’m familiar with it. You can e-mail me a torrent/megaupload link and I’ll have a look at it.

  68. Chibicon Says:

    Yea.

It’s a pretty old 1995 HAnime. Badly censored but hopefully the re-release on DVD this April will solve that.

I’ve emailed you, but I know you are busy so no rush.

  69. Lonewulf Says:

Do you also translate doujins that have handwritten text?

  70. Sahadou Says:

The p-forest ones I just did this week were handwritten. As long as the handwriting isn’t too horrible, I can translate it. You can send along the raws and I’ll take a look. Obviously, if you give me tiny, shitty scans with handwritten text, the chances of me being able to translate it are slim.

  71. kakashi524 Says:

I was looking through the commision and found some hmangas i would like to download but in status it says “Exclusive” and there are no download links, how can i get them?

  72. Sahadou Says:

They aren’t available publicly. Some of them can be recommissioned, but you’d need to e-mail me so that I can try to contact the original commissioners in each particular case.

  73. Anonymoot Says:

Can/will you do a translation from a copy of the doujin or H-manga mailed to you? I’m not really crazy about dismembering my own original copy.. are the costs any different than scans?

  74. Sahadou Says:

As long as the text is big enough/clear enough for me to read, I can translate it, so unless you’re sending me scans that are 400×600 or something retarded like that, I should be able to translate it.

  75. Sahadou Says:

Or are you talking about mailing me a physical book? I’m confused.

  76. Anonymoot Says:

    the latter. The actual manga.

  77. Sahadou Says:

In other words, you want to send it to me so that I can scan it and translate it? You can do that if you like. You will be taking the risk that customs will seize it, though. I don’t want to make it sound as if it always happens, but if they decide to open the box and they don’t like what they see, it’s possible that it will just disappear into thin air.
    Example:
    http://www.sahadou.com/?p=296
For what’s it’s worth, I’ve been importing stuff for years and that’s the only time they’ve seized my stuff so far.

  78. Hiphoppapotamus Says:

Any new info about the possibility of commissioning h-anime?

  79. Sahadou Says:

I want to knock out some of the hmanga commissions first. I’m a little too overloaded at the moment to start up additional hanime donor projects. Maybe in 2 weeks or so.

  80. jba Says:

    hello,

i really love some of the series here that you have made available for d’load like cheers! I was wondering, besides looking up every title for reviews or other feedback as to the quality of the project, is there any way to determine the series from your site w/the highest number of downloads? This, ofc, is not a total guarantee of quality about the work, but it’s a great first start when deciding what titles to check out.

anyways, regardless, fantastic stuff here. I hope I can one day find some raws that I need translated so I can send them your way…great, great work!

  81. garturo62 Says:

will you charge extra if they are full color?

  82. Sahadou Says:

No. Doesn’t make a difference to me if they’re full color.

  83. Anona Says:

Go to isoHunt and do a search for “Yun Yun Paradise” (use quotes) to find the RAW torrent.

  84. Nick Says:

I noticed that the first comment is from 17 february 2008, more than a year ago, and yet you still seem to be overloaded with comission works (as of 2 april 2009).

Do you take this as a full time job? Or do you actually work somewhere else?

    ————-

  85. Sahadou Says:

    @Nick
Here’s my advice. Learn Japanese, attempt to translate and edit a manga and then you can start telling me all about how I’m swimming in my Scrooge McDuck money pit. And yes, you’re pulling numbers out of your ass.

  86. Eridani Says:

I was just wondering if light novels could be comissioned, although I imagine that the comission fees for a particular light novel sereies that I want to read would be obscene.

  87. cheeks Says:

    hey,
do you have a stock of western style comics? beast preferably.

  88. Sahadou Says:

I personally don’t go out of my way to hunt down western style comics, actually. Bloodfer’s message board is a good place to look, though. There are at least a few threads with nothing but western style comics.

  89. Pat Says:

Do you have a preferred dpi for the scanned images and know of a way to do a decent scan to without destroying the physical copy? I assuming you don’t clean up scanned images that are sent to you except where English text is entered, so I’d like to have as neat & clean a scan as possible.

  90. Sahadou Says:

If you’re scanning something, don’t go any lower than 150 dpi. 300 is ideal.
I do sometimes clean pages if they’re fairly dusty-looking and/or crooked, but if the scans are decent as is, I leave them alone.
As for scanning without destroying the book. I typically just spread the book open and press the binding down onto the scanner to minimize the warping/shadows in the center of the book. In the case of doujin, you can usually press the binding completely flat onto the scanner without destroying the book. In the case of hmanga, you’ll need to press down fairly hard since it’s such a big book, but it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to get it completely flat without destroying the book, so you just need to minimize the shadows as much as you can and then crop out the crap you end up with on the sides.

  91. Chibicon Says:

SaHa… this has nothing to do with commissions but, could you please add a favicon to your site? lol

  92. Sahadou Says:

First time I had ever heard the term, but after a google search, I know what you’re referring to. I’d need to look into how it works and I’d also need to come up with an icon, but I’ll see what I can do.

  93. AnonymousEditor Says:

Don’t know how it looks that small but what about your avatar from the hentaipalm forum?

  94. Chibicon Says:

Or something more simple like a small box with ‘SH’ in it, lol.

    Doesn’t have to be fancy.

  95. Blackchaos Says:

i did not see an answer to this question so i thought i would ask, can light novels be comissioned?

  96. Sahadou Says:

Yes, but they take me a really long time to translate and depending on the size, they can be prohibitively expensive. You can contact me by e-mail for a quote.

  97. Sherbet Says:

Sahadou, would you translate just text? I mean, I could send you the doujin, a notepad with all dialogues in kanji (maybe you don’t need that) and I just need the text translated, I don’t mind about edition. Of course, if some day I decide to make the edition myself I’ll let you know so you can put your credits.
If you accept this, how much will it cost?

  98. Sahadou Says:

    @sherbet
I can do the translation like that if you want. You can send the raw for a quote. It’s cheaper than a full edit, but it’s not a huge drop.

  99. Mr. Grey Says:

    Hello.
Thank you very much for all your work so far and sorry if this is not the place to ask this.
I came across one of your translations, “Yuna by Human High Light Film” and i noticed that on the original, on page 29 or 30 there is a note/observation right beneath the first panel which went untranslated. I was wondering what it says and/or why it was missed.
    Thanks.

  100. hairy Says:

Another question about re-commissions: does this mean we have to find a source for the raws again, or can we just request (and pay for) a copy of “X”?

  101. Sahadou Says:

If i wasn’t informed that the scans are unique to the original commissioner, you will be able to recommission them for yourself without finding a new source. One thing you can assume is that the ranma doujins are all original scans from the same commissioner, so you would need to provide your own scans for those if you want to recommission them.

  102. redyakuza Says:

It would be REALLY awesome if the other Frapper Spirits volumes would be released to the public. Pretty Pretty Please?

Also gotta say uber-thanks for the Jeanne Da’ack stuff: there’s nothing in the H-world quite like it :D

  103. volitio Says:

How much would it cost to translate Ginyoku Ecstasy?

  104. carl Says:

Ginyoku ecstasy would be a great translation

  105. tsuanyue Says:

Hello. I wanted to get several doujinshi translated but never recieved a reply to the email I sent. I’m not sure if you’d gotten the email or if it was filtered out. Could you contact me if you’d be willing to accept my commission? The doujin are yaoi, but not shota, and range between 20-60 pages. I’d be happy to see any of them translated.

  106. Sahadou Says:

I’ll take a look at them and I’ll reply later tonight. The detective Conan ones, right?
